The absence of a local movie theater during the bulk of James’ formative years was instrumental in fostering a love of cinema. Instead of watching the more commercial (albeit more age-appropriate) multiplex titles released during his adolescence, James explored film history at the local video store. He began contributing reviews to Buzzine in 2009 after taking up residence in Los Angeles (following a brief stint in London), and is currently studying English Literature at UC Berkeley where he continues to sharpen his critical eye.
