Daniel has been in the scribing biz since writing a review of a lesbian sports movie for his junior high school newspaper. He's proud that one of his teachers felt inclined to collect his first works with a note saying, "Did he write this?" Daniel most assuredly did, and has since contributed reviews, articles and interviews to such print magazines as Cinefantastique, Fangoria, and Horror Fan. Since moving to Los Angeles from NYC almost twenty years ago, Daniel has been a contributing editor to Venice Magazine, where his subjects have included Shirley MacLaine, Liam Neeson, Steve Buscemi, and Jon Voight, among dozens of actors and directors.
Daniel has been just as prolific covering the world of film music, for which he's interviewed every composer from Jerry Goldsmith to Elmer Bernstein and John Barry. On the net, his soundtrack reviews and interviews can be found at iFmagazine.com and Filmmusicmag.com, for which he hosts the audio interview show "On the Score." Among Daniel's numerous CD liner notes are Big Trouble in Little China, The Day of the Dolphin, Batman: The Animated Series, Ghost, and 9 To 5.
A movie and soundtrack junkie, as well as an actor who can be seen in Bubba Ho-Tep, Free Enterprise, the forthcoming The Carpenter and Die-Ner, Daniel lives with his composing wife Penka Kouneva (Midnight Movie) and their musically inclined daughter Jeanne (TBD) in the wilds of Tujunga, California.
