News: Lindsay Lohan In Indian
Shooting Human Trafficking Documentary For The BBC
Seeing her belief in “karma,” Hindus are urging Hollywood diva Lindsay Lohan to take a dip in holy river Ganges during her current travel to India to make a BBC documentary.
Lohan wrote on her Twitter page about the planned documentary.
“Trafficking is a big issue here. I’m [here to do] what I can, and I will continue to do so as long as life when time permits it,” Lohan tweeted. “Over 40 children saved so far. Within one day’s work. This is what life is about. Doing this is a life worth living.”
The BBC is reportedly involved with the documentary. A network spokesman told the Telegraph in London: “Lindsay is involved in a project for BBC Three which will be announced shortly.”
Acclaimed Hindu statesman Rajan Zed said in a statement that Lohan should make use of her trip to India to “rediscover” herself by spending some time in an ashram (hermitage) and taking a dip in holy Ganges. It is believed by devout Hindus that bath in the sacred Ganges purifies one of all sin, and its water, if taken daily, confers immortality.
Heeding Zed’s advice would mean Lohan would have to take her dip in the Holy Ganges in the nude.
Zed, who is president of Universal Society of Hinduism, pointed out that ashram stay would help bring Lohan tranquility, spirituality and serenity. Ashram is a place of retreat usually used for spiritual development, and India is full of them. Members of The Beatles spent long periods at a Rishikesh ashram on the Ganges river bank.
MTV Award-winner and American actress-singer-model Lindsay Dee Lohan (Mean Girls), 23, who has topped Maxim’s “Hot 100,” reportedly flew to India from Los Angeles International Airport on the night between December 7th-8th to get started on her documentary for the BBC Network.
Generally ashrams are located away from the crowds in forests or other places amidst natural surroundings which are suitable for meditation and spiritual instruction and find mention in Hindu scriptures. Lord Krishna himself went to sage Sandipani’s ashram to gain knowledge, Zed points out.
Hinduism is the oldest and third largest religion of the world with about one billion adherents and moksha (liberation) is its ultimate goal.
