Unusual Fashion Picks
Kousuke Tsumura, Jum Nakao, and More

Kousuke Tsumura is my new favorite dude that makes purdy clothes. He used to work with Issey Miyake but now does stuff on his own, including the masterpieces you see here. It’s a whole line of interchangeable puzzle pieces to make anything you want, including a dress, scarf, or headpiece. I think this is fashion at its best because it’s like you can customize your own outfit and it could be one-of-a-kind. The puzzle pieces are made of a soft blanket-like material. Also, if one piece gets skanky or gross with, like, ketchup stains or baby vomit, you could totally switch out that piece for a new one. The designs have something to do with babies, cocoons and mommies, yadda, yadda, yadda. Click here to read about it, if you care. If you like Tsumura’s designs, then click here to see more of what that came from.
Japanese Brazilian designer Jum Nakao was featured in the Paper Fashion exhibition at the MoMu in Antwerp with these brilliant creations made completely out of paper. These are so gorgeous! But not really wearable. They look very Chanel, actually. Unfortunately, after the runway show, the models ripped off the designs, shredding them to pieces.
Check out these shoes! Freakshow! My personal fave is the second one in. I like how the heel dangles with no purpose, but I also like the green one because there’s no heel and it looks like some kind of Lance Burton magic trick. When I was a young and naive Roxy, I used to go to NYC on a weekly basis for audition
s and modeling jobs. I would wear the highest platform heels (thanks to Ginger Spice) on the bus, subway, etc. My mom would leave frantic messages on my phone, like, “You went to NYC in those heels again!” She thought I would be alone and I’d trip and fall and hit my head and get amnesia, forget her and become a crack addict at the Port Authority. Possible, but not likely. Gotta love moms.
Is it looking at me? Or you? It’s like those people who have a room full of dolls and they’re all looking at you! Yes, I have a room like this! I just make sure I’m not watching a horror movie or anything mildly creepy… Sometimes my son’s toys go off in the middle of the night — that can be creepy…until I find a Persian cat licking its crotch near the toy. I’m getting off track… Anyway, GingaSquid has designed this Blinking Eye Ring all out of vintage material. Somewhere, a 1940s doll can’t see. Notice the silver tears — gang leaders don’t need to tattoo a tear near their eye anymore! They should hand this out in prison. I still want one.
