Bud Bundy-wood

He was the lovable loser Bud Bundy in Married…with Children and is currently the star of Sony’s new web series, Star-Ving. Now, David Faustino will play the lead role in the feature film The Bollywood Boys, it was announced this week. Also starring in the movie is Corin Nemec, previously of Parker Lewis Can’t Lose fame.

Written and directed by James L. Bills, The Bollywood Boys is about two down-on-their-luck Hollywood filmmakers who attempt to reclaim their respective careers by making the first Hollywood-Bollywood musical starring an “aged, has-been” Bollywood star and funded by Mumbai mob money.

Filming will begin in summer 2009 at various locations in Hollywood and features American and Indian actors in both leading and supporting roles. The flick will be produced by Todd Bringewatt and Al Gomez.

 

John dials Beantown

Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick dialed 1-800-Love, and Bollywood actor John Abraham answered.

According to reports, the Bollywood stud was invited by Patrick, the first African-American chief executive of Massachusetts, to film the first-ever Hindi film in Boston. With Abraham’s acceptance, 1-800-Love will be the first Bollywood flick to be filmed entirely in Boston.

Filming is scheduled to begin in May. Abraham will star in the movie opposite Pakhi Tyrewala.

 

Preity is a Canadian Genie

The Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television (ACCT) announced that Bollywood actress Preity Zinta was nominated for the Genie Awards for her performance in Heaven on Earth. She was nominated in the “Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role” category.

Zinta will be competing against Hollywood actresses Susan Sarandon and Ellen Burstyn, who were both nominated for their roles in Emotional Arithmetic and The Stone Angel, respectively.

Directed by Canada-based Indian filmmaker Deepa Mehta, Heaven on Earth was a moving film about a battered Punjabi housewife in Canada. It was also nominated for “Best Original Screenplay.”

The Genie Awards will be held on in Ottawa on April 4th, where the winners will be announced.

 

SRK undergoes successful surgery

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan underwent successful shoulder surgery at Breach Candy Hospital on Monday, it was announced. The surgery, performed by Dr. Sanjay Desai, was conducted to repair a muscle tear in Khan’s left shoulder.

Khan injured his shoulder while filming the movie Dulha Mil Gaya. According to officials, the arthroscopic surgery lasted 90 minutes.

It was Khan’s third surgery; he has also been under the knife to repair his back and knee.
