Will Smith Eyes Bollywood for Future Project

He conquered box offices in Hollywood. Perhaps America’s movie industry just was not big enough.

Will Smith is reportedly eyeing a crossover project, starring himself, in the world’s largest film industry -– Bollywood. “Will Smith has been coming to India every few months and is looking for actors and places,” an industry insider told reporters on the condition of anonymity. “He has a script in mind and now has approached a handful of Indian actors. Two of them will be Anil Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.”

Reports of Smith’s Bollywood ventures began with the filming of Slumdog Millionaire in Mumbai with director Danny Boyle.

According to several reports, Smith was taking tips on acting in Bollywood films from Boyle, who also directed Trainspotting. “While we were doing film there, Will Smith came over twice,” Boyle told a reporter. “There is a very large coming-together of Bollywood and Hollywood. It’ll only take one person to bring them together, and it will be huge.”

On the set of Slumdog Millionaire, Kapoor commented on a potential partnership with Smith. “Yes, he came to meet us,” the gregarious Bollywood actor said to the media. “He came to my house. He is very talented.”

Smith, who confirmed earlier this year he was interested in starring in a Bollywood flick, would be the first Hollywood A-lister to star in a Bollywood production.

Other Hollywood stars who committed to Bollywood projects in some capacity this year include Snoop Dogg, Sylvester Stallone, Beyonce, and Steven Spielberg.
