Pumpkins 20th Anniversary Tour
New Single and Upcoming DVD Release
The Smashing Pumpkins have planned a 20th Anniversary Tour this fall, along with a new single, “G.L.O.W.,” released via the Guitar Hero World Tour game, and a new DVD set, If All Goes Wrong, shot during residencies last year in San Francisco and Asheville, North Carolina.
The tour will kick off November 1st, and the five-week run will include multi-night stints in Chicago, Toronto, New York, Washington, Boston, Kansas City, and Los Angeles. The band will play different set lists each night, with plans to repeat no songs during each multi-night engagement. Night #1 is being called “Black Sunshine,” while night #2 will be dubbed “White Crosses.” A special two-night ticket bundle will be available.
In the group’s home-base of Chicago, the band will play four shows at two different venues. In one-night cities, surprise-filled sets are still planned.
Before the anniversary tour’s kick-off, the Pumpkins will again play the annual Bridge School benefit, hosted by Neil Young, in Shoreline, California on October 26th (the second of the two-night engagement). The band last performed at the event — benefiting children with severe speech and physical impairments — in 1999.
Also upcoming is a U.S. television appearance for Friday, October 24th performing “G.L.O.W.” on the outdoor stage at ABC-TV’s Jimmy Kimmel Live. The song will be released via the upcoming Guitar Hero World Tour game — the first time a band has recorded a new song exclusively for the franchise which will be released afterward, giving Guitar Hero fans exclusive access to Smashing Pumpkins’ music first. The new track, bundled with the hits “1979” and “The Everlasting Gaze,” will be available after the game launch as a three-song download content pack. Pumpkins’ leader, singer-guitarist Billy Corgan, will also appear as an in-game character.
The two-DVD set, If All Goes Wrong, is due out November 11th and includes a 105-minute documentary, plus a concert filmed in July and August of 2007 during the band’s residency at the Fillmore in San Francisco, while the actual doc traces The Pumpkins during their 19 special shows, which began with eight dates at Asheville, North Carolina’s Orange Peel in late June. The DVD set also includes interviews with band members, fans, journalists, and other musicians.

About The Smashing Pumpkins:
The Smashing Pumpkins have created one of the most acclaimed bodies of work in musical history and sold over 30 million albums. Formed in Chicago in 1988, they released Gish, their influential (and platinum) debut in 1991, which was followed by more platinum and multi-platinum albums including the nine-time platinum Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness and the four-time platinum Siamese Dream, as well as the platinum-certified 1998 album Adore. The pivotal group’s many hits defined the alternative music era and continue to resonate on modern rock radio, influencing a whole new generation. The Pumpkins returned in 2007 with their gold-certified and acclaimed sixth album, Zeitgeist, which entered the charts in July at number 2 in the U.S and in the Top Ten internationally. Since their triumphant return to the stage in 2007, The Pumpkins have headlined some of the biggest events around the globe, including the Reading Festival, Rock Am Ring, and the V Fest. Earlier this year, the band was inducted into Hollywood’s RockWalk. Their first post-major label release was the song “Superchrist,” issued via the Guitar Center CD Fresh Cuts Vol. 2.
