MTV VMA Week in L.A.
Plus a Charity Event for LIFEbeat and Other Doings
Ne-Yo
Jermaine DuPris
The Ting Tings It’s MTV VMA week in Los Angeles. The annual MTV Video Music Awards will be live from the Paramount lot on Sunday, September 7th at 9:00 pm ET/PT. But first: the parties, of course.
Los Angeles will see a variety of events, featuring artists that include Ne-Yo, Colby O’Donis, Calle 13, Panic at the Disco, Plain White Ts, Fabolous, and T-Pain. Rock Band 2 will come together with LIFEbeat to celebrate the game’s forthcoming release and raise awareness for HIV/AIDS education, while Rhapsody will also throw one of the bashes. Tickets for the Rock Band 2 Party to Benefit LIFEbeat, an all ages event, are $50.00 for General Admission, with proceeds going to LIFEbeat. Tickets can be purchased at House of Blues Box Office and online.
While the awards, perhaps more than ever, don’t really matter unless you’re about 14 years old (and maybe not at that age either), one can’t argue with the charity stuff, y’know? Here’s that 2008 MTV Video Music Awards Weekend schedule:

One of the more interesting promotions among the radio station ticket giveaways around the country and such is “Do Good. Go to the VMAs.” Think.MTV.com, MTV’s online community, will send one young activist to Los Angeles to attend the VMAs alongside the biggest egos — sorry, stars in music right now. For more on that, head to think.mtv.com/Groups/DoGoodGoToTheVMAs.
The 2008 MTV Video Music Awards will feature one-night-only performances by Lil Wayne, Jonas Brothers, Kid Rock, Paramore, Pink, T.I., and Rihanna. Ah, which will still be around in ten years? Probably Kid Rock — out of music, doing films, and running his own chain of restaurants or something like that.
The naming of the official sponsors of the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards: GM, Pepsi, TAG Body Spray, Taco Bell, Rhapsody, Verizon Wireless, and Nikon. And there you go.
