A historic concert by The Who from 1977 — the last performance by drummer Keith Moon — will be released on DVD and Blu-Ray as The Who at Kilburn: 1977 on November 18th by Image Entertainment.

The show that took place on December 15, 1977 at the Gaumont State Theater in North London was recorded and filmed  before a select audience for Jeff Stein’s Who documentary, The Kids Are Alright, and was the last live performance by the original band lineup of Moon, guitarist Pete Towshend, singer Roger Daltrey, and bassist John Entwistle, as the quartet played a blazing set of its biggest hits and best-known songs at that point in time.

Also included on the two-disc DVD set is another never-before-seen show and one of the band’s favorites, a 1969 London Coliseum performance, with additional bonus tracks and the first-ever full live recording of The Who’s groundbreaking rock opera, Tommy.

Look for the Kilburn show to air on PBS in the U.S. as part of national pledge drives too.

In additional Who news, it was recently announced that Townsend and Daltrey will receive Lifetime Achievement Awards at the Kennedy Center Honors on December 7th, along with Morgan Freeman, George Jones, Barbra Streisand, and Twyla Tharp.

Currently on tour through November 2008, The Who have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the UK Music Hall of Fame, and won the first annual Freddie Mercury Lifetime Achievement in Live Music Award and a Grammy Foundation Award for creative contributions of outstanding artistic significance to the field of recording. Their albums Tommy, My Generation, and Who’s Next have been inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.
