Unusual Move For '90s Spinoff
The cast of the new 90210 (Image courtesy The CW) In a move that is generally not seen as a good thing, the upcoming CW series 90210, a rebirth, of sorts, for the seminal 1990s Fox series about two mid-western teenagers who move to Beverly Hills for high school, will not be getting any critical review before the series premiere. The CW has called it a ”strategic marketing decision” to forgo showing it to any critics.
The original series, you’ll recall, launched the careers of Shannen Doherty, Jason Priestly, Luke Perry, Tiffani-Amber Thiessen, and Tori Spelling. If you’re unfamiliar with any of these names, count yourself lucky. Doherty and fellow castmember Jennie Garth are just some of the original series members set to appear in the new incarnation.
The CW insists it’s “riding the curiosity and anticipation into premiere night, and letting all our constituents see it at the same time.”
The show will premiere September 2nd. Check local listings for showtimes.
