Must-See Fall Tours

TV on the Radio, Of Montreal, and Bloody Valentine

Nicole Pope
Featured Writer

Catch these acts on the road this fall…or regret it later.

TV on the Radio

While many artists get by on mere sex/star appeal, TVoR is comprised of undoubtedly accomplished musicians and artists. This makes seeing the band live all the more impressive. While fans have lofty expectations for the band’s third LP, Dear Science, there’s uncertainty about what new sound the band will pursue. The first single, “Dancing Chose,” as you might expect, shows a dancier side to the band, which could make for some sweaty dance floors this fall. If you’re lucky, you’ll hear a sweet acapella number, once again proving these guys don’t need to rely on the flash and bang to wow an audience.

Of Montreal

Here is a band that never fails to impress in the live setting. And no matter how you feel about those Outback Steakhouse commercials, there’s no denying they’ve used the money to vamp up those production values. It helps that Kevin Barnes is a born showman, and oh how he adores those costume changes! Considering Of Montreal’s recent releases have been increasingly dance-oriented, you should wear clothing that doesn’t restrict your movement (unless, like Kevin, you’re coming dressed in your favorite bondage attire).

My Bloody Valentine

For years, MBV, like The Pixies before them, have been one of those “What if?” bands. As in, “What if they reunited for another album/tour?” And, like The Pixies, there’s no official release date set for a new MBV album, though the band is touring this summer and fall. To all those MBV fans out there: how could you possibly miss the opportunity to see their first U.S. tour in 16 years? Warning: Some bloggers have suggested the feedback has, at times, reached eardrum-ravaging proportions. You may want to bring ear plugs…or stop being such a wussy and rock out.
