RIP Arthur C Clarke

2001 Author

Buzzine News Desk
  • Arthur C. Clarke, the visionary science fiction writer, has finally become one with the universe. He passed away at the age of 90 on Wednesday at his home in Sri Lanka, where he had lived since 1956. He’s most well-known as the author of 2001: A Space Odyssey, but had written a massive number of books and won three Nebula awards and two Hugo awards.
  • Aimee Mann is about to drop her seventh album, called @#%&! Smilers, via her own SuperEgo Records. With a notable lack of electric guitar but a lot of Moog, it finds her going in a whole new direction. Pick it up June 3rd, or catch one of her upcoming live performances, including the Bonnaroo festival.
  • Shia LeBeouf is proving to be the most mild bad-boy in Hollywood. He had a brush with police after refusing to leave a Walgreen’s, and now a bench warrant has been issued for his arrest following his absence at a court hearing for his misdemeanor “unlawful smoking,” whatever that is.
  • The Raconteurs, a project which includes the White Stripes’ Jack White, is bucking the trend of long pointless delays between album completion and release. They finished their album last week and are releasing it next week. The idea is to get it to fans at the same time as the media so that no one can have undue influence on it. The album is called Consolers of the Lonely, and will hit shelves on the 25th.
  • New music is out now by M. Ward and actress Zooey Deschanel. The two were paired together by director Martin Hayens for an upcoming film, and the two struck the idea for this musical project called She & Him. The movie is called Volume One, and you can pick it up from your favorite store anytime.
