With the 50th Grammy Awards coming up in 2008, the celebration is on, and this impressive coffee table book is leading the way. And the Grammy Goes To… The Official Story of Music’s Most Coveted Award looks at the history of the Recording Academy honors and how it’s evolved over the decades.
A Borders exclusive only available at its stores and through its online partner, Amazon, the book was written by veteran music journalist David Wild and includes a foreword by 27-time Grammy-winner/producer Quincy Jones, currently Grammy 50th Celebration Ambassador.
The book is rich in historical photos of nominees and winners, as well as Hollywood stars that have been a part of the annual music event. Record of the Year and Album of the Year winners are detailed, along with looks at other categories as well. It’s also packaged with a Grammy trivia DVD. So while not a cushy read-all-at-once volume, it’s the kind of book you flip through a little at a time. Of course, it’s not a bad item for your holiday gift list.
