Kid Rock Scores First Number One Album
Rock n Roll Jesus Bows on Top of Chart
Kid Rock performs in Nashville Kid Rock has scored his first-ever #1 album on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart with his new release, “Rock ‘n’ Roll Jesus.” The album sold more than 172,000 copies–enough to send last week’s chart-topper, Bruce Springsteen’s “Magic,” to #2.
According to SoundScan, Kid Rock’s biggest prior debut was 2000’s “History of Rock,” which bowed at #2 then. The album actually sold more in its first week than his latest–456,000-plus units–but, of course, the music biz is a bit different now.
Other new releases included Jennifer Lopez’s “Brave,” which, despite a lot of advertising hype-and-push, only landed at #12, selling 56,000 copies.
