It’s been almost ten years since the last film, and five years since the show ended, but they may still be trying to squeeze some life out of the X-Files franchise.

At a recent Television Critics Association press tour, co-star David Duchovny indicated that development is beginning to move forward on another X-Files film.

While ratings lagged in its later seasons, a dedicated fanbase for the show is still going strong. And with the amount of time that’s gone by, perhaps the franchise is now old enough to be revived.

Duchovny also reiterated previous comments by co-star Gillian Anderson that she was also on board for the film, should it ever reach production.

Show creator Chris Carter is co-writing and directing the film.
