Paul Newman, the Hollywood legend who starred in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, and has been nominated for ten Oscars, has more or less announced he is retiring from acting.

In a recent Good Morning America interview, the 82-year-old actor stated, “I’m not able to work anymore as an actor at the level I would want to. You start to lose your memory, your confidence, your invention. So that’s pretty much a closed book for me… I’ve been doing it for 50 years. That’s enough.”

Instead, he will be focusing on his new organic restaurant, Dressing Room, in Westport, Connecticut, as well as his Newman’s Own funded charities which, to date, have raised over $200 million.
