All-star rockers Velvet Revolver have re-loaded and will release their second album, “Libertad”, July 3rd on RCA Records, with an advance lead track/single of “She Builds Quick Machines”.

The band will preview the album with small theater and club dates next month, launching May 3rd in Los Angeles and concluding May 22nd in New York City (dates below), with a major tour set for later in the summer.

Formed by ex-STP vocalist Scott Weiland, former Guns ‘n Roses guitarist Slash, bassist Duff McKagan, and drummer Matt Sorum, plus guitarist Dave Kushner from McKagan’s one-time band, Loaded, VR hit the target again and again with their 2004 debut album, “Contraband”, and quickly became a hard rock sensation.

Weiland says the new album “has soul. What we’re trying to say on a musical and lyrical level is clearer this time. The songs may have started out being very personal, but they took on a more universal truth as they were nurtured by the five-headed beast that is Velvet Revolver.”

He adds, “The songs took on a life of their own in pursuit of groove. When it was nearly done, we realized the idea of freedom kept coming up. The feel, the energy of Libertad is about the eternal struggle for freedom–personal and social freedoms.”

When Duff came to a session wearing a T-shirt that said “Libertad” and Slash found a coin struck with “Libertad”, the album title became obvious…the Spanish word for freedom. The album was produced by Brendan O’Brien (Pearl Jam, Bruce Springsteen and many more).
