Eva Mendes Interview

Ghost Rider

Eva Mendes

Emmanuel Itier
Film Editor

Emmanuel Itier: Having a good time and good ride in life?

Eva Mendes: Yes, so far my life is a great ride!

EI: What is a ghost rider, and what does this movie mean to you?

EM: First, this is a big Hollywood blockbuster, but also what I like about it is how we all were concerned about the importance of the love story between my character and Nick Cage’s character. We wanted this “beauty and the beast” element. Also, I loved my character because it shows we women love bad boys–men who are unattainable and not made for a relationship…

EI: These men are just made for great sex…!

EM: (laughs…) I could imagine, yes! So women can relate to that. And also, the whole audience can relate to selling their soul to the devil. I know I do it a little bit every day!

EI: If you were indeed selling your soul, what would it be for?

EM: It either would be for love…or for a billion dollars I would sell it…!

EI: What would you do with the money?

EM: Well, I would help people….and I would buy lots of shoes!

EI: In a sense, we are all ghost riders collecting things–looking for things. What is the one thing you found of importance in life, and what are you still looking for in life?

EM: Wow–great question. The thing that I discovered and that is important to me is honoring myself–treating my body as a temple. I know it sounds new-agey, but I just recently discovered that. What I’m still looking for? Still looking for peace and balance. And of course, since I’m an actress, I can’t be too balanced because it’s part of my job to be off and have issues for my acting material…but still I’d like to find more inner peace.

EI: Isn’t it true that life is all about balancing the divine and the evil in us?

EM: Absolutely! And I have one angel on one shoulder and the devil on the other one…and I have to talk to both of them to balance myself.
