Emmanuel Itier: How was it to shoot this film? How creepy was it with such an evil Sean Bean?

Sophia Bush: Sean and I never beat each other to death, and it was so much fun but also quite dangerous at times with all these amazing stunts. We were covered with bruises and blood and dust. It was quite an exhilarating experience. I went to home so tired and dead, but I was looking forward to it every day. And it’s worth it when you watch the movie because it’s so insane on the screen, and you see cars flying and us running every which way possible. But it’s believable because you know you’re watching the real actors doing everything and not some stunt doubles. It really was worth it to shoot it this way. We really achieved making a thriller that is scary and exciting and intense. The action could really go in any Bond movie or any other big action movie. I think the audience will enjoy it. I think it’s a great date movie. The boys will like it, but the girls will be also so excited by the end, because of how I’m fighting for my life and kicking Sean’s butt.

EI: How was it indeed for you to be this very powerful girl? You’re not the typical horror bimbo…

SB: For sure it was an exceptional part for me to play, and so exciting. She starts out your guy’s girl, you know? She is an easy going, laid back chick, but she is about to get thrown into the next exciting chapter of her life. She is pushed in the rabbit hole and she is kept there. It’s really refreshing for me as a woman to show an example of a female who doesn’t hide in a corner but comes out to fight for her boyfriend and for her life. She really does kick ass…this is so rewarding to do.

EI: And especially in Hollywood where everyone is only trying to exploit your sex appeal?

SB: Totally! It was really enjoyable to break away from the cliché of a “girlfriend” in a typical horror movie. I really enjoy going to work and not to having to be always so clean and pretty looking. I was really filthy at times! And I was bleeding and running in the desert and being in crashed cars–it was really insane! I’m so proud of this movie.

EI: What’s your worst experience of a road trip in a car?

SB: Oh goodness! Well, actually l love driving–even if I’m by myself for a few hours. Or even if I put all of my dogs inside and just go with my iPod. It’s so relaxing for me to just get away from everything. The worse way to do a road trip is in this movie, and I’m glad this is just a movie…this is why you go to movies–to experience things you don’t experience in your everyday life.
